As part of my Bachelor's degree I studied the literature, history and politics of Hispanic and Lusophone countries.

I have a Master's Degree in Translation and Professional Language Skills from the University of Bath, UK, which included the study of editing and proofreading.

For the last 9 years I have worked as a freelance translator, editor, proofreader and précis-writer for a variety of United Nations organizations. As such, I have experience editing and proofreading technical texts in a number of areas, including the environment, human rights, migration and health. I have edited documents on subjects such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, endangered species, green economy policies, transboundary water cooperation and the illegal ivory trade.

My work as a précis-writer requires me to attend meetings of international bodies and write coherent summaries of discussions on issues such as gender equality; social determinants of health; health emergencies, such as the outbreaks of zika virus and ebola virus disease; and migration. 

Editing and proofreading of texts. As a professional translator, I can also translate documents from Spanish, Portuguese and French into English.

I have almost a decade's worth of experience working as a professional translator and editor, principally for UN organizations, which has enabled me to expand my knowledge in a number of different subject areas. Attention to detail and meeting deadlines are vital in my line of work and I work hard to ensure accuracy and consistency in the documents that I edit. Working for international organizations means I am well-versed in working with copy produced by non-native speakers of English.
