I am a post-doctoral research associate of Anthropology at the University of Oxford. My research focuses on mumming traditions along the Austrian-Italian border of South Tyrol, Italy examining the role of the European Right and its influence on cultural heritage perservation. This summer will be spent applying for a 3-5 year research grant as part of a larger research project. 

For the past 13 years I have worked in education as an ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor, as well as a proof-reader for the European Academy of Bozen-Bolzano (2011-2012). During my doctorate (2009-2016), I focused on language learning issues in the South Tyrolean school system concentrating on how segregated education prevents minority group assimilation between German- and Italian-speaking students.

Alongside the grant application, I am working on a monograph proposal with the intent of turning my doctoral thesis into a book. I also intend to work on an edited volume later this summer based off a conference I conducted at the University of Oxford entitled 'Winter Festivals and Traditions'.  

My research interests include: education (policy), anthropology of borders, nationalism, ethnicity, regionalism, folklore, ritual, European witchcraft, festivals, Italian studies, second language acquisition, multiculturalism, multilingualism, cirriculum development   

From 2011-2012 I worked as a linguistic proofreader for the European Academy of Bozen-Bolzano (EURAC) in Bolzano, Italy. I was hired under the direction of Dr Elisabeth Alber and Dr Francesco Palermo, who works as the South Tyrolean political representative for the Italian Senate and Head of the Institute of Studies on Federalism and Regionalism at EURAC. My job was to edit papers written by non-native English speakers before they were sent out for publication. As I worked part-time for the institute, I received on average approximately 10,000 words of editing material per month, focusing specifically on regionalist policy. Occaisionally I worked under the coordinator Paulina Borowska editing advertising material for her Winter School program, which is hosted by the institute.

Since then I have worked as an Anthropology tutor (Spring 2014, Spring 2017) for undergraduate students at the University of Oxford under the direction of Dr Robert Parkin. The tutorial groups consisted of 1-5 students per term, each of whom were required to send me 1500-2000 word papers each week on a certain theme, which I proofread and then discussed with the students. Topics focused primarily on religion and politics in Europe. 

I provide proofreading and editing services for native and non-native English speakers. As an ESL teacher I am qualified to provide additional language services (i.e. help with grammar, sentence structure, etc.) for an additional 10 Euros per hour.  

Given my extensive experience as a researcher, Oxford scholar, editor and English language instructor, I enjoy learning from my clients and students in equal measure. I am thorough in my proofreading and extremely efficient at keeping to a timeline.

My schedule is relatively flexible Monday-Friday, however, do I do kindly ask that clients contact me at least a week in advance if they need an assignment turned around quickly so that I can prioritise.
