Academic Career

I have a Master's in Archaeology & Anthropology from the University of Oxford.

I graduated with a First and won the 1999 Meyerstein Prize for best performance in Finals.

I was also awarded a College Exhibition in my first year.

During my undergraduate I was head of Environmental Archaeology at Pompeii for six weeks for a joint venture between the University of Oxford, the British School at Rome and Reading University.

Other university excavation projects included:

- Segsbury, Iron Age hillfort (Berkshire)
- Segedunum, Roman fort (Newcastle Upon Tyne)

I also worked as a party-time analyst for the Department of Environmental Archaeology at the Oxford Museum of Natural History.

Undergraduate dissertation topic: Comparison of Old World and New World Metallurgy

I began an MPhil in Egyptology, which is at present incomplete.

I have been a regular editor for the sociology/psychology/anthropology periodical Forum: Qualitative Social Research for over six years and was the copy-editor for the recent archaeology book Built on Bones by Brenna Hassett (Bloomsbury Sigma).
